Pet Portraits

You will be getting an artist's rendition of your pet... I will be drawing your pet's image and then the drawing will be reproduced as a digital image that can be printed in any size (available) even on greeting cards. (see below)

The portrait will be created from a series of photos that are provided by you the customer. The photos must be clear and sharp preferably taken in natural lighting so as not to create "green eye" from flash photography. The more photos the better, not to worry about the background, as that will not be a disturbing factor or used in the final product. The key is allowing me to have all the "information" possible to create as close a likeness as possible of your pet.

IF you are local to Cabot Vermont and would like some help, please contact us and Ray will go out and assist in the process by taking the needed photos. As you might suspect in the case of a local client we offer a PHOTO portrait option as well. Please contact us rloonnest@fairpoint.net for details.

It is nice to have photos from every angle so that I can "get acquainted" with your pet. Try to have shots that are head and face only, as well as full body shots. Those photos can be sent as a photograph, on a CD, or as a printed copy on a high-resolution printer. (no large e-mail files please) Please do not send grainy photos or faded prints. If this portrait is to be of a pet that is deceased I will determine from the available photographs as to the extent of accuracy I can reproduce its likeness. It is suggested that original photos be copied before they are sent in the mail, as we are not responsible for loss due to postal handling. Your photos will be returned with the portrait.

The final portrait will be a PRINT of the original (which I will keep) 11x14, which will be matted out to a 16x20 (larger sizes soon to be available).

The fee will be $150 plus shipping and handling which will include an individually signed and dated print on archival paper with archival inks rated for up to 200 years (with proper care and protection). All that you will need to do is take the matted print to your local frame shop to select the frame of your choice (or since it is a standard frame size, chose one from your local department store and frame it yourself.)

The superior quality of the paper that we use makes the print look nearly undetectably original. It has a soft matte finish that looks so velvety that you would swear if you touched it the pastels would smudge... (But they won't because it is a print!) One precaution! Resist the temptation to touch the surface of the print!! While it is true that the print will not smudge as a pastel original would... It will leave marks if you touch the velvety surface (like the marks you might see in velvet if it is touched)... so immediately and carefully protect your print under glass!

Once your pet's image is on file, we will be able to also create greeting cards with your pet's portrait on them for your future use (5x7 cards blank inside).

We now have a 3 month waiting time as the list is fairly long for pet portraits, but please don't hesitate to start the process by getting on the waiting list.

Please send your contact info and prints to:

The Gallery at Loon Cove
239 Sandy Beach Road
Cabot, Vermont 05647

Along with a check for $25 to hold your place in line. You will be contacted as to an estimated time of completion.
